Agrievolution Global Business Barometer Indicates Downsloping in FM Business Index and Future Expectations of Turkey!
The Spring 2021 cycle of the Global Business Barometer gauges sentiment towards current businesses and market uncertainty and explores how farm machinery manufacturers are coping today and planning for the future. Among the 221 participants from China, India, Western Europe, Japan, Turkey, and the United States, 73 percent are producers.
The main objective of the barometer is to illustrate the current and future branch development for the most relevant topics of the industry as general evaluation of the business, order intake, turnover, employment, delivery times, machinery stocks, farmers´ mood, and economic conditions and others (COVID-19 impact).
The global business climate index continues its upward trend for all industrial regions. In particular, future expectations seem to support this progress in the industry. There is a significant decrease in the trend in Turkey compared to the previous survey period. Due to the epidemic, uncertainties in the industry continue to negatively affect short-term expectations. While the positive outlook for market developments covering the next six months continues in almost all regions, the picture in Turkey is more pessimistic. According to the results of the survey, there is a high growth potential for the industry in Western Europe in the coming period.
The survey results emphasize that the level of profitability remains below expectations despite the increasing demand. While the prices of agricultural products rise, the profitability of livestock production is adversely affected because of the increase in input prices. However, it is stated that the crop volume is down based upon severe drought in the recent period.
