CEMA Barometer Results: Supply Chain Disruption Threatens Market Growth in EU!

The general business environment index, which is one of the important indicators for the European agricultural machinery industry, reached the highest level in May and June since 2008, but showed a slight decrease in the last few months, and rose to 56 points in December (on a scale of -100 to +100).

Survey results point out problems in supply and cost increases continue to affect the industry negatively. On the other hand, almost half of the industry representatives surveyed plan to temporarily halt their production lines once again in the next four weeks due to parts shortages. However, against this backdrop, growth appears to be merely delayed into next year. The overall market expectations of the participants are positive, with record volumes in orders.

As a side note, the representatives of the European industry look forward with confidence to the coming year. For 2022, the survey participants expect for their company an increase in turnover of +7% (arithmetic mean) or +5% (median).
