Development in the Tractor Industry of Turkey as of October 2014
As expected, tractor production in Turkey started to increase again by the end of summer season. The current statistics say that the amount of production in September 2014 is 6,500 units which is 8.5% larger than that of the same month last year, and 55% greater than the last month; August 2014. The cumulative production amount of Jan. - Sep. 2014 period (9 month) is also 18.7% greater than the same period of 2013, reaching to 48,841 units. Compared to the cumulative production amounts of the first 9 months of the last four years (2011 - 2014), it is clearly seen that 2014 is the highest of all and it could be a record breaking year for Turkey.
Not only tractor production but also tractor registery is in an increase trend in Turkey since the beginning of 2014 and TARMAKBIR expects that this trend would continue until the end of the year. The tractor registry in August 2014 is 4,945 units which is 45% larger than the same month last year, and the total registeries of the first 8 months of 2014 is 34,361 units which is also larger by 15% compared to the same period of 2013. Additionally, the cumulative registery of 2014 for the first 8 months is greater than the same periods of 2012 and 2013, yet, not greater than that of the record breaking year 2011.
Turkey manufactures tractors for its growing domestic market and as well as for the international market. The increase trend in production also is a sign of an increment in tractor exports of Turkey. Compared to the last four years, the cumulative tractor export from Turkey to the various continents of the world in the first 9 months (Jan. - Sep.) is higher in 2014, namely 13,267 units. This is an above average value of these last four years by 24%, and also a record breaking value since the beginning of 2000s.
As tractors are main machineries for agricultural activities, the increae in production and registeries could be interpreted as agriculture in Turkey is in a good (at least not bad) mood. With its plain and large agricultural arable lands, the famous agricultural production base of Turkey; the province Konya is still at the top of the tractor registeries list amongst the other provinces. The other provinces remarkable in terms of tractor registeries are the ones mostly located in Aegean region of Turkey. And the least remarkable ones are mostly located in the Eastern regions of Turkey, another famous area - but this time - with its mountainous geography.
